Trichomoniasis

Did you know that...?

  • Trichomoniasis  is also known as ‘trich'.
  • A trichomoniasis infection ('trich') is not a serious STI.
  • Women have complaints more often than men.
  • You can have a trichomoniasis infection for a long time without having obvious symptoms.

What will someone notice?

  • In women, trichomoniasis can lead to an inflamed vagina, urethra or bladder.
    This may make urination painful.
  • Sometimes the symptoms are very mild.
  • Complaints sometimes increase as a result of menstruation.
  • Men usually notice little or nothing of a trichomoniasis infection.

Treatment

  • Trichomoniasis responds well to treatment.

Do you have any symptoms? Or do you think you might have been exposed to unsafe sex? It is important to have yourself tested as soon as possible.
