Migrants and Ethnic Minorities make up about 20% of the population of the Netherlands (CBS, 2007). - Total Dutch population = 16 million people

- Ethnic minorities born in Non-Western countries = 1.7 million
According to the Dutch HIV Monitoring Foundation, which is the body that monitors the trends in HIV infections in the Netherlands, the HIV figures for 2007 were as follows: - Total number of HIV patients in the Netherlands =14,960. Of these 11,349 are in follow-up as of 1 June 2008.
