Kinds of condoms

Condoms are available in many sorts, sizes, colours and for different uses.

Most condoms are made of latex (rubber). If you are allergic to latex, you can use polyurethaan (a type of plastic) condoms. Examples of these are Durex Avanti and Ezon. Both of them are suitable for both vaginal and anal sex.

There is also a female condom. It is made of polyurethaan (a type of plastic). This pre-lubricated barrier is simply inserted into the vagin before sexual intercourse takes place.

You can find more information at the Durex site

Below is a list of different kinds of condoms

  • condoms for anal penetration

It is not necessary to use special condoms for anal sex. This is a fable you often hear. You can use any reliable condom for anal sex. But you will need to use plenty of water-based or silicon-based lubricant.

  • female condom

There are condoms for women too. The most well-known brand is Femidom. This is a condom which you insert into the vagina. The advantage of a female condom is that you can put it in before you start having sex.

  • special condoms

Condoms are not only made to protect you against STIs and pregnancy, some are also made to make sex more fun. For example, there are flavoured condoms. Ribbed and studded condoms to make you feel more. Even condoms containing a special gel which delays ejaculation. All these condoms protect you against STIs and pregnancy.

  • fun condoms

There are also the so-called fun condoms. These are condoms in all shapes and sizes. Fun condoms do not protect you against STIs or pregnancy. As their name says, they are just for adding fun to sexual contact.
